Rickenbacker 660 Mapleglo Guitar
Rickenbacker 660 Mapleglo Guitar
The Rickenbacker Model 660 is a magnificent solid-bodied showstopper with a gorgeous Mapleglo colour and that trademark sound that only a Rickenbacker can deliver.
Featuring a maple body which reveals the individual character of the wood, like all the 600 series, the 600 has a shape that's based on the innovative "cresting wave" design from the 1950's with higher end appointments than the 620s or 650s, adding to the prestige and collectability of this icon of rock 'n roll. And unlike other classics like the Les Paul or Strat, you won't find this shape or style made by any other brand - Rickenbacker are highly protective of their unique designs.
This is a stunning looking guitar with some really beautiful and accurate vintage appointments and a luxurious lacquered finish. It's not just a pretty face though - there's that unique Ricky sound from vintage style pickups that are close to the original toaster pickups but with a little more oomph.
The rosewood fingerboard is decorated with triangular pearloid inlay markers, while the solid maple body gives a bright and crisp tone, paired with a maple neck for lightness and playability. Rickenbacker's trademark "chequered" black and white binding contrasts strikingly with the body, while a white binding adds an extra touch of craftsmanship on the neck.
The Rickenbacker 660 is electronically engineered to the exacting standards of the vintage reissue series, complete with two of Rickenbacker's own vintage high-gain single coil Toaster-style pickups giving a warmth, clarity and the distinctive jangle that these guitars are renowned for.
